The wrestling is also known as kushti.Kushti is from Indian subcontinent.It was developed in the mughal empire by combining mallayuddha with influences from presian varesh-e bastani.The word phelwani and kushti is derived from the persian term pahlavani kosht respectively.

Therefore, when a wrestler talks about being able to eat large volumes of ghi,milk and almonds it is primarliy because he is big and strong and not because he seeks to become big and strong. On june 12,1954 singh won his first real wrestling honor.At the rustam-e-hind (champion of India) free-from wrestling compitition in bombay,he vanquished tiger jogindar singh in front 10,000 individuals,accepting a silver container from maharaja hari singh towards its finish. Dara singh consumed two leters of milk, half kg of meat,10 silver vark,six to eight chapatis in a day this explains strenght & level of fitness he displayed even as an 83 years old man. The great gama pailwan's original name is Ghulam mohammad baksh.He was born on 22,may 1878 jabbowal,Amritsar district,Lahor division,punjab province,British Indian empire. He died on 23,may 1960 Lahor,punjab,pakistan. When he died he's age was 82 years old.
